Wisconsin’s Visual Arts Legacy: James Schwalbach

As a part of a continuing series of artist profiles, this issue of Art in Wisconsin features James Schwalbach. The work shown here is from the collection of Heidi Levy. Levy is an author and art historian whose new book Famous Wisconsin Artists and Architects was recently released.

James Schwalbach was an artist and educator. His radio program ‘lets draw’ reached more students than perhaps any other educator in history. The text below was found on the back of the print pictured above and gives Schwalbach’s own self introduction and description of the work.
